To Establish Positive and Productive Relationship with Families

As a childcare provider, I believe it is very important to establish and maintain a positive relationship with each family. It is significant to understand their needs and expectations for their child’s development.

My first goal towards exceeding their expectations is to establish a positive and open relationship with each family. I ensure that all responsibilities expected of me are completed in a timely manner, which is done by keeping record each day for any kid who is over three years old and potty-trained. I make it a point to greet each parent and child as they enter into the class. Information is shared with the parents on a quarterly basis to discuss their developmental growth. Any parent of a child who may show signs of learning disabilities, will be referred for additional services.

My next goal is to encourage parental environment. Due to long work schedules many parents feel stressed or insufficient in providing care for their child. It may also make it difficult for them to obtain quality time with their child. I like to offer fun and creative ways to promote family involvement. Sending work home as well as other projects allows the parent time to work individually with the child. Other ways I like to include the parents are having them to sign up as a guest reader, chaperoning a field trip, or attending events hosted by the school such as a Mother’s Day breakfast or Father’s Day lunch.  Parents should feel that they are important and a valued member in their child’s learning.

Lastly, I will be supportive and respectful of the child and their family by speaking positively and keeping any information shared confidential. I will promote an open-door environment and be sensitive to the family structure. I know that it is important for the child to feel valued and supported so I like to offer the families many opportunities to get involve.

I feel that the most important part of a child’s success in learning is to be provided with a positive and productive relationship between school and home. You can’t have one without the other!
